Even though we haven’t yet met, it’s so easy to get caught up in the excitement of Carter’s proposal, becoming vested in its success, wanting it to be both the big surprise and for Vanna to say yes, of course! Carter had it planned out and we schemed together further – from the exact spot he was going to propose, to the pew they were going to be on, how long he was going to play their favourite song through a shared earpiece before moving on to propose.
Vanna didn’t realise I was there until way after Carter put the ring on, which was an absolute win. I love the quiet moments when they prayed together, giving thanks to God in front of the gorgeous stained glass windows of the newly renovated Novena church, Vanna’s shy smile and their candid, funny moments together where they made each other laugh. The most unexpected part was when an ebullient passing African church member asked if he could photo-bomb the shoot for a few seconds!
