With immense ingenuity, plotting, scouting and covert operations that spanned a few continents, we pulled off an emotional real surprise proposal at the Supertree Grove of Gardens by the Bay. It paid off and Shalev’s girlfriend, or shall we say fiancé now was in tears of joy, laughter and disbelief.
Shalev and I talked while we were still in separate continents, and he was planning to fly into meet his girlfriend in Singapore, where she ocasionally remote worked from. Yes, a fly-in proposal to a spot he’s never been before, and he also had to come up with an amazing reason for her to return to Gardens by the Bay as they would be visiting the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome the day before (watching the light show was a great acceptable reason!)
We even switched from WhatsApp to Telegram to keep our ongoing schemes under wraps. That ranged from TikTok videos on how to get onto the Instagram location, timings of approach, crowd-control on-site, to where exactly to stand and the sequence of events. Shalev would hand her a handwritten set of notes and photos of their lives together, and he would propose shortly after – which is when I would finally pop into the picture.
Judging by her tearful reaction plus the intensity of emotions they shared together after, I think it’s safe to say congratulations to the newly engaged couple!
