We definitely packed in APT Bar along Tanjong Pagar Road on a Friday evening with the air brimming with incremental excitement over Leroy’s arrival. Leroy doesn’t know it of course, but over 50 of his friends are about to surprise him post-dinner for his 50th birthday celebration, meticulously organized by his partner Zo and his close friends.
Photos memories of Leroy and his friends were printed on seat cushions, gold and monochrome balloons decked out the area, and champagne was poured out to give Leroy a mega cheers when he arrived. Loads of phones were out, updates were given by Irene every few seconds (“they’ve left the dinner venue!”, “Zo’s leading him up the stairs!”), some curtains drawn to sort-of hide our crowd and everyone waited with bated breath for the birthday boy to pop around the stairs into the bar.
A good mix of mayhem, excitement, hugs, toasts, laughter ensued and the party began!
(Zo’s birthday was also the very next day, so it was a double cake, double celebration)
