35 – an age that doesn’t seem more significant than other ages to many of us, but to Estonians, every age with a zero or five behind calls for an extra celebration. Marite’s siblings flew in to spend a week with her, along with her friends made across her life here and abroad.
A champagne brunch was a brilliant idea indeed, especially when Marite’s sister had the best crepe recipe in the world, and manned the hot plate for guests the morning birthday celebration. Surrounded by gorgeous bouquets of flowers, different kinds of birthday cakes and friends and family who hoisted her up all 35 times in a chair – another wonderfully fun Estonian tradition! – the birthday weekend definitely started on a great note for Marite.
