Harold and Rie’s story is one of serendipity and going the distance (literally) as they will be soon to be moving to USA. We recreated their first meeting years ago, at the corner of Lau Pa Sat’s satay street and Sofitel (now QT Singapore), and hopped around some of their favourite spots in Singapore, including Keong Saik Street.
It was lovely to sit with them to find out the backstory over beer and dumplings. Turns out they worked everything backwards – migration to USA meant that they had to get married, and they had already booked their ROM date, and all that was left was this proposal, which Harold wanted to be a surprise (and still was given his great cover story of meeting up with ex-colleagues!).
Sometimes it matters not to have the most beautiful settings for proposals, but the most meaningful.
